La premi\u00e8re ligne fut Paris-Rouen.<br \/>C&rsquo;est l&rsquo;Angleterre qui mis en service le 1er wagon postal en 1838 entre Londres et Birmingham.<\/strong><br \/><strong>En 1854, il y avait une avaient peine \u00e0 se mouvoir sachant qu&rsquo;\u00e0 chaque arr\u00eat de nouveaux sacs de correspondances s&rsquo;amassaient.<\/strong><br \/><strong>Ajoutons \u00e0 cela ce wagon situ\u00e9 en queue de convoi subissait en raison de la vitesse, les tr\u00e9pidations dues a son manque de stabilit\u00e9. <\/strong><strong>Les employ\u00e9s ne pouvait s&rsquo;assoir dans cet espace restreint et encombr\u00e9.<\/strong><br \/><strong>Bien que par la suite dans les express de nuit, 2 wagons \u00e9taient allou\u00e9s \u00e0 la poste pour rem\u00e9dier \u00e0 cet encombrement,\u00a0 ce paliatif qu&rsquo;en 1900, apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes sur de nouveaux wagons adapt\u00e9s, que le r\u00e9seau du nord put\u00a0 inaugur\u00e9 ces nouveaux bureaux ambulants.<\/strong><br \/><strong>C&rsquo;\u00e9tait une voiture de 14 m\u00e8tres de longueur totale. Les portes plac\u00e9es \u00e0 chaque extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 acc\u00e9daient \u00e0 un couloir laissant une largeur de 3 m\u00e8tres \u00e0 la salle de travail.<\/strong><br \/><strong>Une des portes \u00e9tait affect\u00e9 \u00e0 la r\u00e9ception des sacs, quant \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre \u00e0 la livraison.<\/strong><br \/><strong>La hauteur avait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9galement augment\u00e9e donnant un volume plus vaste en contraste avec l&rsquo;exiguit\u00e9 des anciens wagons.<\/strong><br \/><strong>Cette salle de travail auquel le personnel acc\u00e9d\u00e9 aux extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s \u00e9tait am\u00e9nag\u00e9 de chaque c\u00f4t\u00e9 de tables surmont\u00e9es de cases de triage. Le nombre de ces cases \u00e9taient de 580 contre 374 auparavant.<\/strong><br \/><strong>De ce fait le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 de triage a \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9lior\u00e9. Apr\u00e8s le timbrage, un premier tri regroupait les lettres sur les tables de destination qui ensuite \u00e9taient rang\u00e9es dans les cases correspondantes.
